Ellie had rushed over from work, and had been delighted to find that Mr. Dobson, Nat, and Jinian had already begun setting up for the party. The old cowboy had already fired up the grill in preparation and the girls had set out bread baskets and salads to start. There were tables with hurricane lamps set up near the house, and some additional ones down by the pond. And with clear skies, it was going to be perfect for stargazing even if you never left the table.

Several of the horses were frolicking in the paddock, and she wondered if any of their guests might like to go riding. She was definitely game, and had decided to try riding Bucky this evening. He was a beautiful Palomino, but also quite mischievous too. She was still getting to know the horses and Mr. Dobson had helped her choose which horses would be best to introduce to their guests.

While she waited for Michael and the others to arrive, she climbed up onto the fence of the paddock and watched the horses play.

Ellie waves back! "Hey Lawr! It's great to see you!" She likes him very much, and hasn't gotten to see much of him lately.

"Would you like something to eat? Or drink?" Her smile widens when she sees he's brought his friends, too.

"Good to see you too! How's life without the - " he makes hand motions which are sort of supposed to convey the whole Simon-unmasking thingy "y'know, ruse?"

Ellie knows exactly what he means, and she gives him a broad smile. She's been finding out that several people had known that Simon and Michael were the same man, and as a result has been incredibly impressed that Nexus people had been so understanding of it. "Even better than before, thank you! I was expecting the worst and it's turned out better than I ever could've imagined."

"How've you been?"

"Good! I figured things would either work out or go horribly, horribly wrong. Glad it was the former." Lawrence doesn't quite understand how things worked out so well (strange well-adjusted people and their ability to have semi-normal relationships), but that doesn't mean he can't be happy about it.

"I've been good! I feel quite accomplished, even, 'cause I got these two hermits out of the house. Didn't even have to beg."

"Yeah, with something like that there really isn't much middle ground, if any. I was expecting him to be mad or upset, and when he wasn't, it was such an incredible relief."

She smiles, hearing that! "That's great! I hadn't seen you around a whole lot lately, and had wondered how you were doing." Now that he mentions it, they do seem rather pale. Then again, she is herself a lot of the time. "They don't like to leave?"

"They're not social butterflies anyway, and Edric hasn't been comfortable in public for a while, so... yeah, they just don't get out much."

"... So have you two broken in the hayloft yet?" What, he can't not ask the really intrusive sex questions. He'll probably ask Michael, too, just to be fair.

"I'm sometimes the same way, so very understandable." She's not sure if he'll believe her or not, but it's very true. Especially at the end of their trip to Indiana, she'd wanted to hide.

Ellie cracks up! "Gosh no!" She blushes. "See, Nat and Jinian can speak to the horses apparently, and Mr. Dobson said that the horses tend to get gossipy, so..."

Lawr can't see Ellie being paranoid-ly antisocial the way Simon gets, but he can believe she's shy at times.

He snickers. "So everybody on the farm would know by the end of the day. I can see how that might be an issue."

"And Nat and Jinian are...?"

"Oh my gosh yes!" She hopes Lawr doesn't mind discussing it, and he is one of the people she does feel most comfortable discussing it with. "I'm not much of an exhibitionist, so..." Yes, there's a bright-red blush on her cheeks again.

"They're girls who help out at the stables. Nat's kind of like Mr. Dobson's adopted granddaughter."
