nexus_stables | Party at the Nexus Stables! ((Open to everyone!))

Ellie had rushed over from work, and had been delighted to find that Mr. Dobson, Nat, and Jinian had already begun setting up for the party. The old cowboy had already fired up the grill in preparation and the girls had set out bread baskets and salads to start. There were tables with hurricane lamps set up near the house, and some additional ones down by the pond. And with clear skies, it was going to be perfect for stargazing even if you never left the table.

Several of the horses were frolicking in the paddock, and she wondered if any of their guests might like to go riding. She was definitely game, and had decided to try riding Bucky this evening. He was a beautiful Palomino, but also quite mischievous too. She was still getting to know the horses and Mr. Dobson had helped her choose which horses would be best to introduce to their guests.

While she waited for Michael and the others to arrive, she climbed up onto the fence of the paddock and watched the horses play.

"Hi Jill! Thanks for coming over!" Seeing how she's dressed, Ellie's glad Jill looks like she'll be giving riding a try.

"How've you been?"

Oh, she's definitely willing to give riding a try.

"Oh, thanks for having me over! Sorry Chris couldn't make an appearance, he's helping out with stuff back in our world... and one of the alternates of it." Jill rubes at her temple, giving Ellie that 'holy crap I am exhausted and need to unwind' look.

"There's been more trouble in Raccoon City- the one that's not a smoking crater- and, shit. Y'know what? Smack me if I start sounding too emo. This is party, I dont' want to kill the mood." She grins slightly.

"No problem, I'm glad you could come! It's okay, stuff happens, and since Michael bought the stable, I would hope it'll be here for a while to come! Can I get you something to eat or drink?" When she sees her rub her temples, she hopes Jill doesn't have a headache.

"You? Emo? I don't think you're emo at all. What happened?" Ellie's going to have to check a map tonight because she doesn't know where Raccoon City actually is.

"If it's here for awhile, I'll just drag Chris over another time. And, some water? I know if I start drinking booze I won't stop..." That earns a little bit fo a chuckle from her.

"And... I don't know exactly what happened, but if it's something that happened to a Raccoon City, it's a disaster. I mean... the Raccoon City Chris and I are from got 'sterilized' by tactical nukes, so that might put things in perspective."

She pauses and shakes her head, brushing that one rebellious lock of hair away from her face. "So, we up for riding today? I dressed for the occassion."

"Sure!" Grabbing a bottle of water from one of the large ice-filled tubs, she offers it to Jill.

"Whoa. 'Sterilized'?! That's a bit extreme! What happened?" Her eyes go wide at the mention of nuclear bombs. A good while ago, she watched The Day After and she'd had nightmares for weeks afterwards.

"Oh, definitely!" Ellie starts to point out the horses. "Robin's going to try riding Beer, that big Clydesdale over there. Midnight and Jessie are great too, and not so massively huge! Have you ever been on a horse before?"

Jill nods in thanks and takes the water, quickly opening it and taking a swig. When finished, she just shakes her head a little.

"I'll regale you with stores of bioweapons later. But, for now, let's just enjoy the party." It's amazing how casually she can speak of it, using a level tone and all that. However, if you look close at her eyes, there's unmistakable anger and guilt. Kind of scary.

"...You have a horse named 'Beer?' And, actually, I've never ridden on a horse. I'm open to trying, though."

"Alright! We still need to make it out to Hollister's too, so maybe sometime after work? I'd like to hear about it if you're okay discussing it." In some ways, Jill reminds her of Michael since they're both ex-military and have likely seen horrible things that they might never want to discuss.

"Actually, Beer came with the stables when Michael bought them. Most of the horses here can take either an English or Western saddle, and my preference is English, to be honest. I think you have better control, all told."

It looks as though Mr. Dobson put two more horses, Sassy and Tinker, into the paddock. "Those two are Quarter horses, and fun to ride. Sassy is well, rather sassy, and Tinker is a little easier to ride."

"Oh, definitely. I'm going to be gone for about a week starting, well, soon. I met someone in the Nexus and, after punching him in the face, was invited to go see his world. So, yeah, sometime soon, or after the trip we'll go. You should bring your doctor friend."

A light grin tugs at her lips. "I still can't get over that name. Beer, of all things."

"And, umm... I'll take whatever you think is best. You're the expert, after all. I'm just praying to not get thrown."

"Oh, like a vacation of sorts? I've not had the chance to leave the US yet, but I'd like to sometime. I just need to save up!" Ellie completely understands about the Nexus, too.

"Me either! I couldn't stop laughing when I found out what his name was! Could be worse though, like naming a pig 'Dinner'!" That makes her start laughing again.

"How about Tinker? She's a great horse, responsive, and has never thrown anyone. We've got extra helmets, too. I usually wear one myself, just in case. There's more of an issue with tree limbs than there is getting thrown, but I like to be safe!"

"A much-needed vacation, though, honestly? I don't really know what to expect of this world. The guy's a knight." She smirks a bit when Ellie starts laughing about the pig, laughing a little as well.

"I'll take Tinker, then. And an extra helmet, too. I don't want to go home with a concussion."

"A knight?! I haven't met one of those yet!" That would be rather interesting to meet one, and she'd likely end up talking to him about horses.

Seeing that Mr. Dobson has already saddled Tinker up with the English saddle, this works out well. Nodding towards the stables, she'll take Jill in there to find a helmet.

"Great! Tinker's very safe, too. And quite agile, really. I think Mr. Dobson said that she does barrel racing, and can herd too. Want to go pick out a helmet?"

"I can't speak for all knights, but this one's kind of a nutjob. Thinks he's all high and mighty until I accidentally break the AV field." She shakes her head as they go over to the helmets.

"Wow, I feel dumb. I'm definitely going to have to read up on equestrian stuff if I want to do this again." Smirk. "Helmets, hmm..." It doesn't take long to decide; she goes for a blue one.

"Whoa, that would do it!" She wonders if he might be one of those Monty Python knights.

"No, don't worry about it! There's a lot of stuff to get used to, and gosh, I've been riding close to twenty years and there are still lots of things I've haven't a clue how to do." Watching Jill put the helmet on, it looks like a good fit. "How does that feel? Fit okay?"
